On 3rd June, 2023, at Nghinh Luong Dinh, Hue City People’s Committee collaborated with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and relevant units to organize a cycling event on the occasion of World Bicycle Day (3rd June) and the Handover of sponsored bikes to Hue Smart Bike project: This event is within the framework of Cycling week 2023, under the Pilot Project of Public Bike Sharing.

The ceremony welcome the attendance of Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong – Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Phan Thien Dinh – Permanent Member of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Hue city People’s Council; Mr. Hoang Hai Minh – Deputy Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Vo Le Nhat – Deputy Secretary of City People’s Council, Chairman of City People’s Committee; Mr. Truong Dinh Hanh – Deputy Chairman of City People’s Committee; representatives of leaders of Provincial Departments and Agencies and the local citizen.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee, Mr. Truong Dinh Hanh emphasized that: Bicycle is a simple, convenient means that is suitable for the sustainable development process while helping people improve their health, developing creative thinking and actively protecting the environment. This event is organized with the aim of spreading the cycling movement to all people in Hue city, cycling for the environment and improving the health of all people; bicycle is the ideal vehicle for the trend of "green" traffic and the sustainable development of Hue - ASEAN Clean Tourism City, Festival City of Vietnam.

The Cycling Week 2023 in Hue city focuses on main activities such as the 1st Consultation Meeting on the development of the Hue City Bicycle Traffic Development Plan, the cycling event in response to the World Bicycle Day; at the same time, preparing to complete the System to put back into operation the pilot phase 2 of the Public Bike Sharing in Hue City, helping people to move economically and conveniently between public transport stations or within the city in the coming time, thereby stimulating tourism demand and socio-economic development in the area.
Mr. Daniel Herrmann - Head of Climate Policy Department, German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) shared that cyclists create 84% less carbon emissions than non-users, along with many other benefits; therefore, people should choose bicycles over cars or motorbikes to improve air quality, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve our lives.
Through this event, Mr. Daniel Herrmann wishes to promote cycling culture as well as raising people's awareness about the benefits of using bicycles as a healthy and sustainable means of transport. He believes that, with the determination of the government and the people's cooperation, Hue city will soon fulfill its goal of becoming a green - clean - beautiful city and the first cycling city of Vietnam in the coming time. On this occasion, Dat Phuong Group Joint Stock Company, An Bao Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company, Gilimex Industrial Park Joint Stock Company, Dai Thanh Technical Trading & Service One Member Ltd, Thua Thien Hue Hydraulic Construction Joint Stock Company, Transport Infrastructure Engineering and Consulting Joint Stock Company and TDH Vietnam Investment Joint Stock Company have sponsored more than 200 bicycles for the pilot phase 2 of the project, helping people to move economically and conveniently between public transport stations or in the city in the near future.
