Being the ancient capital of Vietnam, preserving and promoting heritage values is not only Hue city's responsibility but also a motive force and potential for economic development, especially tourism and services development. That has urged Hue to increase investment, upgrade and renovate the infrastructure facilities, integrated, suitable and right-oriented traffic as a heritage ancient capital.

   The master plan of Hue city to 2030 with a vision to 2050 affirms the character of Hue city "as the provincial capital, the political, economic, cultural, scientific and technical center of Thua Thien Hue province in the construction period to become a city directly under the Central Government; as the central urban area of Thua Thien Hue urban area in the future; as a large and unique center of the whole country for culture, tourism, science - technology, specialized health, multi-disciplinary, multi-field, high-quality education and training of the whole country and the Southeast region ASIAN; as a world cultural heritage city, a festival city at national and international level; as the clue of economic exchange in the region and in the international trade corridor.

   Understanding and creatively applying the specific mechanisms and policies oriented by the Central Government and the Province, Hue city has promoted urban renovation in the direction of preservation associated with development. Over the years, Hue city urban area with many modern and spacious buildings have been formed, the large commercial centers have been invested and the traffic system has become more and more modern, responding a great deal of socio-economic development, helping citizens have a better and more civilized life. Along with urban infrastructure development, the major movements and campaigns implemented by the province such as “Green Sunday Project”, “City of Four Seasons Flower”... are implemented by the city regularly and uniformly to the residential groups, contributing to making the city's environmental sanitation and urban beauty more and more orderly; the self-discipline in the implementation of a civilized lifestyle in the living quarters of officials, party members and the people is increasingly being enhanced.

   As the connotation that forms the quality of Hue people, Hue culture has developed over time with many changes including in perception and behavior. Originating from urban culture, Hue has selectively absorbed and received new cultural streams, in which, the typical quality of Hue people is originated from words, voices, from the behavior between Hue people with each others, between Hue people and tourists are preserved and promoted through many generations.

   The Movement The whole people unite to build up the cultural life and The campaign to build a new countryside and a civilized urban had a great impact on the awareness and actions of Hue people in various fields. In which lifestyle and habits are adjusted in the direction of civilization and friendliness, which is the content that is promoted and communicated effectively. The Traditional Craft Festivals organized by Hue City in the odd years starting in 2005 not only have the meaning of socio-economic development but also gradually form and bring Hue people to become the subjects of the Festival , is the "tourist ambassador" of a festival city, a typical festival city of Vietnam.

   As a priority area for security work, continuously over the years, the Party Committee and the City Government have strengthened their leadership and direction. The city's armament were formed and growing stronger, continuing to be a reliable force that was concerned by the City's leaders, have the task with implementing the work of maintaining and ensuring security in Hue city.

   Throughout 8 periods of Hue Traditional Craft Festival organization starting from 2005 up to now, and through many cultural, political, economic and social activities which are safely organized in the area, it has affirmed its growth and is on par with its mission of the city's armament of ensuring political security, social order and safety. This is also a evidence to the great efforts, determination and solidarity of the city's army and people in joining to build a peaceful city, a city with a civilized urban lifestyle.

   After July 1st, 2021, implementing Resolution 1264/NQ-UBTVQH14 of the National Assembly Standing Committee on adjustment of administrative boundaries of district-level administrative units and wards establishment in Hue city, Thua Thien Hue Province; Hue city from an incomplex town with 27 wards has increased to 36 wards and communes. From that, Hue city officially has more potentials to promote tourism and service development, especially marine and lagoon economy. Along with the progress in the field of economic development, after intergrating into the city, many festivals and cultural activities from the local scale have been upgraded in terms of organizational scale such as the Thuan An Festival, Wrestling Festival of Sinh Village, Cau Ngu Festival ... attract the attention and participation of many tourists inside and outside of the province.

   Besides the tourism potential, the aquaculture industry is an economic sector that contributes a lot to the city's budget revenue. With the agricultural production area increased by 5,786 ha, nearly 4.5 times higher than before expansion; the number of cattle and poultry increased from 74,425 to 293,211, an increase of 3.94 times compared to before July 1, 2021. Fishery production is still a new economic field after the intergration, but it is always interested by all levels to invest resources to support. The city currently has 50 fishing ships participating in fishing activities in the far sea area. Fishing ships have participated in exploitation and have been supported with petrol and oil to continue to go out to the sea, as well as protecting the country's sovereignty and creating income for fishermen, contributing to household economic development and national security.

   The year 2023 is a turning point, when the Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee establishes a project to build a city directly under the Central Government on the basis of the administrative boundaries of Thua Thien Hue. With the responsibility of being a nuclear city, the city has actively disseminated, informed and propagated to the people in the area the documents and directives of the Central and the province on the nature, purpose and meaning of the Project.

   In direction and administration, the City has applied effectively, in line with the actual situation of the City during the process of the Provincial People's Committee's implementation of Resolution No.38 dated November 13th, 2021 of the 15th National Assembly on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Thua Thien Hue province. This is also the basis for the whole province to successfully implement Resolution No. 54-NQ/TW dated December 10th, 2019 of Politburo on construction and development of Thua Thien Hue province to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

   48 years after Liberation Day, in the past and present, despite any difficult and challenging circumstances; building and developing Hue city to become richer and stronger, a green - clean - bright city, Hue people's civilized urban lifestyle is always a furious desire, the highest goal of the Party Committee, the Government and the People.
