Countinuing the working trip to Japan, on October 18th and 19th, 2024, a delegation of Hue city led by comrade Phan Thien Dinh, Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Hue City visited and worked in Shizuoka city. As the capital of Shizuoka Prefecture, in the Chubu region, Shizuoka City has a favorable geographical location, located in the center of the north-south axis, next to Mount Fuji, which is considered the national symbol of the land of the rising sun.
Among Japanese localities, Shizuoka was the first city to sign a cooperation and friendship agreement with Hue in May 2005. Shizuoka regularly organizes many delegations to visit and work in Hue city, and at the same time promotes many support programs for the city such as welcoming interns, training officials in the environmental field, supporting Japanese language training, providing scholarships, cultural exchanges... Through the Lions Club Shizuoka, you have also introduced many business delegations to Hue to explore investment opportunities in the locality. On Hue's side, the city also welcomed a number of art troupes from Shizuoka to attend the Hue Festival, along with visits by Shizuoka citizens and youth in people-to-people exchange programs. In 2023, the two cities worked together to complete the project dossier "Cooperation between cities to realize a carbon-neutral society" to submit to the Japanese Ministry of Environment for approval of funding for the project. This project was approved for support by the Japanese Ministry of the Environment in July 2024. Accordingly, through Nippon Koei Company, Japan sponsored the installation of a solar power system for the Hue City Central Administrative Center building, and at the same time encouraged local production establishments to use solar power systems for production and business.
At the meeting and working session with the delegation, Mr. TAKASHI Namba, Mayor of Shizuoka, reviewed the main features of the relationship between the two cities, and thanked Hue for welcoming the Shizuoka delegation to visit, work in Hue and attend the Hue Traditional Craft Festival. Comrade Phan Thien Dinh, on behalf of the city's leaders, thanked Shizuoka for supporting the city in the early stages of cooperation, affirming that generations of city leaders always appreciate Shizuoka's valuable support in the local socio-economic development process. The Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People's Council also reviewed the highlights of the local socio-economic situation, and at the same time proposed that Shizuoka, on the basis of existing relations and cultural and historical similarities with Hue, promote cooperation for mutual development. Hue is ready to welcome Shizuoka and Japanese enterprises to invest in the area, provide young and skilled labor force for Shizuoka and surrounding localities, and coordinate to organize investment promotion conferences for enterprises of the two localities to meet, seek investment opportunities and enhance tourism promotion activities on Hue's tourism and air transport infrastructure which has been invested in expansion and modernization.
The leaders of the two cities agreed to continue maintaining existing relations and will study and organize appropriate activities in the coming time to celebrate 20 years of friendship and cooperation between the two cities.
On October 20th, 2024, the delegation returned home, successfully concluding the visit and working trip to two Japanese localities that have cooperative relations with Hue.
